ISO 45001 · Health & SafetyPrevention of workplace accidents and occupational diseases.
Why this standard matters
ISO 45001 is the international reference standard for occupational health and safety management. It replaces the former OHSAS 18001 framework and requires visible commitment from management, active worker participation, rigorous hazard identification and continuous assessment of occupational risks. Every year, millions of workers worldwide fall victim to preventable workplace accidents or occupational diseases — a figure that motivated the creation of this standard as a universal framework applicable to any organisation, regardless of sector or size. To go further into the standard’s fundamentals, our article Understanding ISO 45001 in 3 minutes details its key requirements. In Benin as in France, high-risk sectors (construction, Oil & Gas, mining, chemicals) are the first concerned, but any organisation with staff benefits from structuring its prevention. IFECARM GROUP supports its clients throughout this journey: maturity assessment, prioritised action plan and preparation through to the certification audit by an accredited third-party body.
