Five days to run certification audits of an environmental management system under ISO 14001, with a third-party auditor’s stance.

Key challenges

Environmental audits cover varied sites and activities: identification of aspects and control of compliance obligations must be checked without being a specialist of each technique.
The auditor must judge if the system is effective, not just documented: evidence comes from the field.
Nonconformities must be worded against a standard requirement and a piece of evidence.

Auditor assessment under the scheme concerned.

Scope of application

The auditor title depends on the exam and scheme of the personnel certification body concerned: the course prepares for it without guaranteeing it. Carrying out certification audits also requires being appointed by a certification body.
