In a nutshell

What this course aims to achieve

Implementation of the APSAD D83 standard

Two days to design and install an access control system under the APSAD D83 framework: architecture, equipment, wiring and acceptance.

Key challenges

  • Emergency doors and evacuation must remain usable even in a power cut: security must not trap occupants.
  • A well-designed system fails at commissioning (settings, rights, wiring) more often than for technical reasons.

Learning objectives

  • Organise or implement secure access management.

Detailed programme

  1. 1Principles, architectures and components of an access control system.
  2. 2Practical application of the targeted standard according to the course’s aim.

Target audience

  • QHSE staff, security managers and technicians.

Prerequisites

  • No prerequisite.

Learning methods

In-person training, technical input and case study.

Learning assessment

Case study or practical exercise.

Scope of application

Content refers to the targeted technical standard (notably APSAD D83) in its edition in force; applicable regulatory limits (employment law, data protection) depend on the country concerned.
