In a nutshell

What this course aims to achieve

Deliver training on the use of self-contained breathing apparatus and/or chemical protection suits, and ensure participant safety.

Four days to teach the use of breathing apparatus and protective suits: instructions, checks, drill safety.

Key challenges

  • A protective suit isolates from heat, toxics and the outside: the wearer sees, hears and moves less, and the trainer’s monitoring must compensate.
  • Exercising in suits is gruelling: thermal stress and faintness must be monitored continuously.

Learning objectives

  • Design and deliver a session in line with the targeted objectives.
  • Safely assess trainees during simulations.

Detailed programme

  1. 1Adult learning and facilitation of simulations.
  2. 2Building training sequences and assessing trainees.

Target audience

  • Professionals or trainers wishing to deliver this type of training in-house.

Prerequisites
