In a nutshell

What this course aims to achieve

Identify the various possible impacts, and understand the associated prevention measures and protective resources

Four and a half days to carry out a site’s environmental analysis: listing impacts on air, water, soil, noise and waste, then ranking them.

Key challenges

  • Impacts are spread across departments: each sees its own, nobody has the site overview.
  • A significant impact is a judgement, not a measurement: ranking criteria must be set and justified.
  • Abnormal and accidental situations are forgotten although they cause the heaviest impacts.

Learning objectives

  • List activities, emissions and receiving environments.
  • Assess and rank impacts using defined criteria.
  • Identify suitable prevention and protection measures.
  • Keep the environmental analysis up to date.

Detailed programme

  1. 1Environmental analysis approach and site scope.
  2. 2Emissions inventory: air, water, soil, noise, waste, energy.
  3. 3Normal, abnormal and accidental situations.
  4. 4Ranking impacts and significance criteria.
  5. 5Prevention measures and means of protection.
  6. 6Updating and tracking indicators.

Target audience

  • Environmental and QHSE managers and site operators

Prerequisites
