In a nutshell

What this course aims to achieve

Respond effectively to an accident situation, keeping the victim safe while waiting for the emergency services

The certifying occupational first-aider course, over two days. It covers both sides of the scheme: responding to an accident, and contributing to risk prevention within one's company.

Key challenges

  • An occupational first aider is not only a first aider: the scheme also asks them to spot dangerous situations and report them. That is the part companies use least.
  • A certificate is valid for twenty-four months. Beyond that, without a refresher, the employee still appears on the first-aider list but is no longer current.
  • Helping an injured colleague is not an exercise: scenario training exists so that the action still happens despite the emotion.

Learning objectives

  • Situate one's role as an occupational first aider within the company's arrangements
  • Protect the accident area and carry out an emergency removal if necessary
  • Examine the casualty and alert the appropriate emergency services
  • Give the casualty care appropriate to their condition
  • Spot dangerous situations in one's company and report them
  • Take part in implementing prevention measures
