What this course aims to achieve

Analyse a measurement situation in the electrical field

The second module of the pathway: moving from measurement to analysis, applying thermography to electrical installations.

Key challenges

  • Two anomalies that look identical can call for opposite decisions.

  • Analyse a thermogram of an electrical installation in its operating context.
  • Relate observed heating to its probable cause.
  • Assess the severity of an anomaly and the action it calls for.
  • Structure a campaign report.

  1. 1Heating in electrical installations: causes and mechanisms.
  2. 2Influence of load, ventilation and environment.
  3. 3Method for analysing a thermogram, with interpretation cases.
  4. 4Severity assessment and prioritisation of follow-up.
  5. 5Structure and drafting of a report.
  6. 6Hands-on analysis exercises on real cases.

Target audience

  • Technicians who have completed thermography module 1
  • Electrical maintenance staff

Prerequisites

  • Have completed infrared thermography module 1 or have equivalent practical experience.
  • Electrical knowledge matching the installations analysed.

Learning methods

In person: real case studies, guided analysis and hands-on work.

Learning assessment

Assessment through thermogram analysis and report writing.

Scope of application

This module deepens analysis in the electrical field. Issuing reports under the APSAD D19 standard requires the corresponding qualification.
