QHSE challenges in this sector

The Oil & Gas sector combines major risks: explosive atmospheres (ATEX), flammable and toxic products, confined-space work, work at height, lifting operations, and an operational-continuity pressure that can push teams towards dangerous shortcuts if safety culture is not embedded at every level. Incidents in this sector are rarely minor: fire, explosion or exposure to hazardous substances can have considerable human and environmental consequences, hence demanding international frameworks and contracting parties who impose their own HSE standards on subcontractors. Permit-to-work management, ATEX zone classification and emergency preparedness sit at the heart of any intervention on these sites.
