QHSE challenges in this sector

The Oil & Gas sector combines major risks: explosive atmospheres (ATEX), flammable and toxic products, confined-space work, work at height, lifting operations, and an operational-continuity pressure that can push teams towards dangerous shortcuts if safety culture is not embedded at every level. Incidents in this sector are rarely minor: fire, explosion or exposure to hazardous substances can have considerable human and environmental consequences, hence demanding international frameworks and contracting parties who impose their own HSE standards on subcontractors. Permit-to-work management, ATEX zone classification and emergency preparedness sit at the heart of any intervention on these sites. IFECARM GROUP supports operators in this sector in Benin and in France to build this QHSE rigour, drawing on expertise in managing major industrial risks (ICPE/SEVESO sites), transposable to the sector’s requirements.
