What this course aims to achieve

Update your occupational health and safety auditor skills to audit a management system under ISO 45001

Two days for an auditor already certified on another management system standard. The course does not teach auditing again: it covers only what ISO 45001 adds, and which auditor reflexes become wrong in occupational health and safety.

Key challenges

In quality, a non-conformity leads to a corrective action. In health and safety it may amount to a legal breach and to people being exposed: the nature of the finding changes.
An auditor from a quality background looks for the procedure; ISO 45001 asks them to observe a practice and to question workers, which is not the same job.
An OH&S system audited without awareness of the hazards puts the auditor themselves at risk in the areas they visit.

Scope of application

Reference frameworks: ISO 45001, ISO 19011 and the harmonised structure of management system standards. The actual extension of an auditor certification to the OH&S standard is decided by the personnel certification body, on the basis of a file and witnessed audits.
