SEIRICH: training on how to use the tool

Two days of hands-on work with SEIRICH, the chemical risk assessment and information tool. The course runs from choosing the right level of use through to turning the results into an action plan, working on participants' own inventories.

Key challenges

SEIRICH does not judge the quality of the data it is given: an incomplete inventory produces a credible and wrong set of priorities.
The choice of usage level commits everything that follows: moving up a level afterwards means re-entering data the lower level never asked for.
Data entry is time-consuming and often left to one person. Without breaking it down by workshop and sharing the load, the project stalls half way through the inventory.

Prerequisites

Everyday computer literacy
Having a product inventory, even a partial one, to bring to the session

Learning methods

Two days face-to-face, one workstation per participant

Work on the participant's own company inventory

The tool installed and checked before the session begins

Learning assessment

A complete work unit assessment carried out in the tool

Presentation of the action plan derived from the results

Scope of application

SEIRICH is a tool to support chemical risk assessment. Using it does not amount to compliance: the assessment remains the employer's, and its results must be carried into the occupational risk assessment document or its local equivalent.
