What this course aims to achieve

REACH regulation process, challenges for the different statuses, and implementation of the regulation.

A one-day course on the REACH Regulation as seen from inside a company: determining one's status in the supply chain, deducing the obligations that actually follow, and handling substances subject to authorisation or restriction.

Key challenges

  • Everything hinges on status: manufacturer, importer, downstream user or distributor. A company that believes itself a mere user while importing from outside the European Union unknowingly takes on an importer's obligations.
  • A substance listed in Annex XIV can leave the market on a fixed date. Without monitoring, the company discovers the ban when its supplier stops delivering.
  • The exposure scenarios annexed to an extended safety data sheet have to be compared against the company's actual uses. Almost nobody does this, and it is precisely the downstream user's obligation.

  5. 5Annex XVII restrictions and the training obligations that flow from them
  6. 6The extended safety data sheet: reading exposure scenarios and checking actual uses
  7. 7Information duties on articles and communication towards customers
  8. 8Internal organisation: who monitors, who answers customers, which records to keep

The Regulation applies to the European Union market: an organisation established outside the Union is concerned through its exports into it.
